Natural Patterns

This folder is of things that form what I see as natural patterns. This picture was taken during the winter of 2001/2. It is a thin coating of ice on the lake that has been crunched up against the bulkhead.

Forsythia taken during the spring of 2001 in Central Park.

I have used this picture in my "Good Shots" folder. Besides it being a good shot it is also a great "Natural Pattern", so I used it twice.

This was taken on the West Side by the old rail yards. The way the pigeons spaced themselves out was interesting.

We went to a sculpture garden in south Jersey. This was a lily pad in a small pond. The detail on the leaf is amazing.

These are four pictures that I took at a place called Indian Step Falls, across the Delaware river at the lake. This is one of a tree base along the path to the falls.

A little further on there was a dead tree with this incredible growth of STUFF on it. The color on the web doesn't do the original justice.

While in St. John's a Lignum Vitae tree was pointed out to me. This is the bark.

This was taken in Cape May, NJ on the beach. I walked slowly toward the gulls and then made a noise and snapped the picture. NEAT.

Another falls picture. The stream that created the falls carved out this ravine. The sides in places were exposed shale. The shale with north exposure was covered with moss.

Another St. John's picture. This is of a palm leaf.

At last. This is Indian Step Falls. Early in the spring of a dry winter. Not much flow.

Taken from our rental in St. John's. This was one of the most vivid rainbows that we have seen.

I am not sure of the name of this flower. The pattern of the buds against the green was what caught my eye.

St. John's for me has always been a wonderland (and sea). I can spend days wandering around a shooting things. This is a palm tree trunk.

This is our Christmas Cactus Flower. We have 4 plants of different ages. We always look forward to the flowering. There is nothing more to say except to ask you to look at the symmetry.

This photo is not mine. this was taken by my daughter while she was in Alaska on a plane from Fairbanks to Anchorage. I do not know the name of the river but it is "Natural Pattern" writ big.

This was taken by my daughter-in-law, Marie. It is a field of 1 1/2 to 2 foot ferns in Kenai, Alaska.
